On the morning of August 26, 2024, the press conference for the 19th Men's and 10th Women's World Fire and Rescue Championships (called as the " World Championships") was held in Harbin. Chang Xinwen, Director of Venue Construction and Competition Organization Department of the World Championships Executive Committee, Lin Wei, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee Office, Wang Ning, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs and Protocol Department of the Executive Committee, and Fu Mingtao, Deputy Director of the Opening and Closing Ceremony Work Department of the Executive Committee, attended the press conference and answered questions from reporters.

The 19th Men's and 10th Women's World Fire and Rescue Championships will be held from September 5th to 11th at the Jiangbei Campus Stadium of Harbin University of Commerce. The events are hosted by the Ministry of Emergency Management, the National Fire and Rescue Bureau, and the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, and organized by the Harbin Municipal People's Government.

The World Fire and Rescue Championships, initiated and hosted by the International Fire and Rescue Sports Federation, has long been known as the "Firefighting Olympics". It has 33 member states including China, Russia, Germany, Belarus and Türkiye. Since 2001, the event has been held in Moscow (Russia), Minsk (Belarus), Tehran (Iran), Istanbul (Türkiye) and other world famous cities with international influence and attraction. So far, it has held 18 sessions of Men's and 9 sessions of Women's World Fire and Rescue Championships. The overall schedule of the World Championships is about 5 to 6 days, with a total of 4 competition events including climbing hook ladder, firefighting 100 meter obstacle, firefighting 4 × 100 meter relay, and shooting water from portable fire pump set. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded for each event respectively.

Strictly following the requirements of "Simplicity, Safety, And Excitement" in organizing the competition, this World Championships achieve frugality and integrity in all aspects, emphasizing practicality, and strictly controlling costs. It is the first time for 19th Men's and 10th Women's World Fire and Rescue Championships to be held in China in 2024, so it is of great significance.
